Let's face it. If you are a career criminal and stealing stuff is your career, you are going to find a way to continue to do it. Just because people in Texas are armed, I don't think that is going to stop people from stealing.
The only problem with your scenario is that, if conditions get rough enough for the legal burglars, the job will eventually appeal only to illegal immigrants, who will be willing to "step up to the plate". In the words of our President, "These folks (illegals) will be comin' here to do the lawbreakin' and the criminalizin' that Americans aren't willin' to do".....

I agree, it doest matter if the person had one felony or two dozen, if they were a citizen or immigrant, it appears they were breaking into a house that was occupied and the homeowner shot the person.

This is a completely different situation from the Horn case.

You should watch the discovery channel show, it takes a thief. They break into homes with huge dogs and most times they ignore the criminal... or can be distracted with food.
