yes but , when you get older if you need your child to get an education and live in NY suburbs, its a good system bcs public schools there have qualified teachers...with a Master's degree or more, whereas in other states when your child goes to high school they get taught creationism, and are banned from reading books like "To Kill a Mockingbird" ....There has to be some mix, because not everyone can afford to put their kids in a good private school (25k or more) ....

I think you are misunderstanding me. I think a socialism has been the source of a lot of good ideas for American domestic policy. America is, and will hopefully stay, a pragmatic hybrid of socialism and capitalism. I tend to think that it is silly that socialism has been made out to be a boogy man when stuff that tens of millions of Americans rely on such as minimum wage, public schools, and workplace safety regulation are socialist ideas.

How are these working out? We have sustained unemployment, wages are stagnant, our public schools aren't educating, and workplace regulations are sending jobs overseas. It's time for some new ideas.

Considering they started in the 1930s if not earlier pretty well. We have a 99% literacy rate that is up from 80% in 1870 when public schools started. The number of people killed in workplace accidents has declined drastically from the early 20th century, (nothing like the triangle shirtwaste factory has occured in quite some time) and we have practically eliminated starvation in America, and cut down malnutrion by a fair amount as well. Something that was a large problem until the 1930s.

Who's to say these things wouldn't have improved without these policies, or maybe even faster? Innovation, better food, more competition, and less regulation could've led to even better conditions.

Interesting you mention better food. That was largely the result of the pure food and drug acts which prevented the kind of tainted foods like they have in China.
As to things improving with out that I doubt it. The government really only tends to focus on things that private industry will not do. Without public schools who would educate that hard to reach, poor 20%. What would be the incentive to make workplaces safe if it was unprofitable. Bear in mind the Triangle Shirt waste fire occured after Lochner v. New York in which corporations fought and won the right to opperate unsafe workplaces. Take electrication for example. In the profitable urban areas of the Northeast private electrification was quick. In the poor rural Tennessee valley only the government would do it. Quite simply those goals were not goals that private industry were all that interested in, in fact they were resistant to them.
Quite simply companies wont do even the most beneficial things if they are not profitable. The government will.
You know, I think most people are exactly this. I am too. I don't know anyone who wants to spend ourselves into oblivion or throw money at everything, but I sure do know people who want to stop me from being myself.
