I currently have a Olympus Stylus 1000 which takes horrible pictures imo. I have played with all the setting and I still hate it. It also takes forever to take a picture.
I want something with a faster shutter. I want a everyday camera. Easy to use, whose auto setting would be fine in most situations indoor or outside. I thought about getting a Nikon D60, but it seems like too much camera for me. I just want to take nice pictures of my kids and family, nothing professional. I was also shown a Canon Powershot S5. I tried it out and it seemed to have a fast shutter (not as quick as the D60 since its not in the same class, but good enough for me).
What do you think? Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks for any replies.

I own a Canon Power Shot S5 IS and love it. I bought an adapter for mine through a non-Canon site that allows me to screw on a filter and use a snap-on lens cap. Being able to use a circular polarizer filter can make a world of difference in your photos, which is one major reason I did it.

The nice thing about this camera is that is can grow with you. You can use it simply by putting it in Auto mode of using one of the special settings, or you can use it in more advanced settings if you know more about photography. I like the 12x zoom a lot. Although I have a digital SLR and lots of fancy lenses and flash strobes, I actually use this camera more than any of the others.

Good luck with your choice. It can be overwhelming at times with all the technology out there.
