Thank you! It always feels good to be validated by a jury of your peers!
This photo (and it's twin) is very special to me. The morning of the day I took this shot, I was awakened by a call from my daughter. She and her brother who she was driving to school for finals that morning got into a bad car accident. Someone turned in front of her from the opposite side while she had the green light. She didn't have time to stop and she crashed into the car. I was barely awake when she called, since she could not reach her father. I managed a cup of coffee, and then called my husband so I could meet him at the crash site. He actually was pulling in to the parking lot at work when he heard the accident on the traffic report. He told me he wished she would take a different route because the traffic would be backed up. The kids appeared fine, but the car was totalled. I had to pick up my son and drive him to school (he was less hurt, but sore from the seatbelt) and then return to the accident scene. The rest of the day was pretty much trips to urgent care (she had some minor neck cervical vertebrae issues), calls and trips to the body shop, conversations with police and insurance companies. Nothing quite prepares you for a call when your only two children are involved in an accident at the same time.
It rained all day that day, so when the rain stopped, I decided that I was going to shoot something, anything, to take my mind away from the turmoil of the day. There was nothing much to shoot but the bare cherry tree in my front yard, so I approached the tree with my macro lens, feet sinking in water and some mud, and did that rocking motion. I took a couple of shots. This was one of two...the other I actually posted in the Daily Random thread was the better of the two. It has since been my wallpaper on my iPhone and my laptop and will always be a constant reminder of how a simple thing like rain on a quiet evening can provide much needed comfort.
Congratulations bibit! It makes it even more interesting to know that, not only does the photo look tranquil, but that for you the act of capturing it was tranquil.

Everyone is aware of what February means so I'm going along somewhat with the theme. But instead of just the broad subject of "love", I'd like to propose a theme called "Two". The subject has to show two of something, a pair, a couple. It may be animate or inanimate, that shows a connection, an emotion, a relationship. I think it's a broad enough subject that is plenty open to interpretation and would accommodate every photographer's special techniques, subjects, camera and lenses. So take out your macros, telephotos and wide angles...shoot a pair of love birds, swans, rings, fathers and daughters, mothers and babies, two dogs, two cats, a dog and a cat....you get the picture! Two!!!!
I'm looking forward to many entries this month! Use your imagination, post your best shots and jump in!
