Amazing that even to this day, I learn yet more ways in which so much blight in the city, surface parking lots included, is directly because of him. And the fact that he did all of that purely for personal gain, taking it all the way to the grave, is unconscionable IMO. A Bernie Madoff level scumbag, who should be remembered as such.

At this point I think the tipping point for Market East is going to be one big project like the one rendering for the Girard Estate property and one good retail tenant.

Of course, the Gallery needs to be reworked but i can't see anyone investing that kind of money in it until the rest of the corridor starts to take off - a Catch-22 there.

Well, that's true. I can't wait for the Girard estate property to build that damn Girard Square.
But I try to point out that it seems that the city had made small progress; kudos to them.
If you look at the back of the plan, it says that:
1. They will move Hard Rock to a new site in a (casino?!?!?!?!). It seems that the plan had been scratched out. However, renovations had been made:
1.1 Open up the windows facing the street: making the cafe to be more a part of the city integral and create unwelcoming facade for the homeless to hang out in front of the facility.
1.2 Expansion of the cafe toward the Head of Reading terminal area. There are so many plus for this - I can't even enumerate it here.
2. Incentive for retails to open stores on MArket, 10th and Chestnut streets. Well we have seen Marshall open on Market St. Allen Edmonds will open Feb 1st on Chestnut. SuitSupply will open in Spruce mid Feb.

I really like the idea of the huge billboard; LED ones, plastered on Burlington Coat Factory side of Market St. Now I am waiting patiently for that LED display on the top of Lit Brother. It has been approved. When are we going to see it???

So it seems Chinatown does not want to be left out from the flourishing development of Philadelphia Center and surrounding!
The proposed 4-floor addition to 1025 Arch Street had started to take place! (Pictures in NakedPhilly link below). This is awesome!

In addition, 1019 Arch St does not want to be left out from the fun. They also plan a similar expansion!

Alright people, keep it moving ;D
