Plan called for the demolition of the office building (in the picture) and a new 32 story tower in its place cantilevering over the remaining theater.

This line sums it up pretty well...

"But one by one they realized that the extra cost of construction in Philadelphia plus the current real estate market and complexity of what we were asking with cantilevering over the theater, that they couldn’t make the numbers work,” she said."

Basically a Manhattan level project with Manhattan level construction costs commanding Philadelphia rents / prices, not financially feasible.

It would have been a cool project, but I am much more interested in filling that horrible vacant lot left behind at Broad & Spruce. Most of S Broad on the East side isn't particularly noteworthy after Spruce Street (minus a few nice older buildings).

As construction starts at Philly’s Schuylkill Yards, New York’s Hudson Yards serves as a cautionary tale

Apparently groundbreaking for 2 towers is scheduled for late 2019!

Well with 1861 5*, and 466 4* Ratings out of 2600 Reviews, I'd speculate that a "Few" disagree with Quita P. 's 3* rating, which IMO doesn't accurately reflect the associated narrative. https://www.yelp.com/user_details?us...jMiVW1sUXodekw

I respect Quita P. for not being a follower. She doesn't care what the 'cool' kids think and she's not afraid to go against the crowd.
Nobody wants to be 'that guy' who gives less than five stars, but at least she's honest.
