Delmont? (Greensburg, Trafford, Export: apartments, for rent, low crime)

Can someone give me an idea of what to expect from Delmont? There is a chance I may be relocating there from Florida. There's only so much you can get an idea from on websites. And I can't find a lot about things to do in the area. I am also wondering if anyone can give me an idea of where I might want to avoid looking to rent (high crime, lots of traffic, etc..). Pretty much looking for basic advice and recommendations for a new residents in their mid to late 20's... Thanks in advance.

Delmont? - you got's to be kidding.

That is a major interchange along RT 22 and has lot's of traffic. In the morning and around 3:30 - 6 Pm it might take you a hour to go 4 miles down that road.

Depending on where you are going to work, I would look east or west of Delmont for a place to live.

Export - on the Old William Penn Highway is a lot quieter of a neighborhood then Delmont is. The rent ought to be about the same and you wouldn't have to deal with as much noise.

I see it as a nice town , there is a Walmart,and other conveniences,the traffic is when the... APPLE and ARTS FESTIVAL is in town in October.Rt 66 can be use to connect to the PA turnpike,construction on Rt 22 was slowing traffic.
If you go 4 miles west you will be in Murrysville,if you go 5 miles east you will be in New Alex,about 8 miles south to Greensburg....the Greensburg-Salem school district.

Thank you for giving me more of a visual of Delmont and surrounding towns. We won't be up there until maybe mid-November. When we find out where exactly my boyfriend needs to be up there, it will be a fast move. So, I am trying to narrow down areas to search for homes that are for rent (preferably rent to own). Would you recommend one town over the next? We are willing to be anywhere within a 10-mile radius of Delmont. We need somewhere affordable, interresting to mid to late 20's couple (we are laid back individuals; comic nerds), and low crime. Traffic is not a big deal if it meets all the other wants. There are a lot of nice towns around Delmont. Trafford is nice, Murrysville is great too. Holiday Park has a lot of townhouses and apartments. It seems to have a slightly younger population than delmont, export, and others. But, I believe it is in Allegheny County, so the taxes would be higher and it isn't as high quality as the places in westmoreland. If you find that these places are a bit too expensive for you, you can check out jeannette which is close and cheaper. It also isn't as nice as places like Murrysville, but there are some decent places around there. If you find that you have to rent, check out Holiday Park or Monroeville. Tons of apts there and the drive to Delmont isn't bad at all. Most of the traffic would be flowing towards pittsburgh during rush hour, so you wouldn't have much to worry about. Your two big shopping areas would be Monroeville and Greensburg, around rt30. As far as what to do, well, it's a very suburban area. Most of the people are middle aged with children. They go to malls, shopping centers, Applebees, etc. There isn't a whole lot specifically for young people, but it isn't difficult to go into the city and find a lot of cool stuff to do in the strip district, shady side, south side, etc. The people are fairly conservative, there is little crime (although higher in jeannette) and the whole area is just a typical family-oriented community.
