I remember one time about 13 years ago, I was ironing a shirt, and the phone rang, so I went to answer it, and that's when I found out that it's not a very good idea to leave the iron down on your clothes for more than 20 seconds! Yeah, I ended up with a big black spot on the shirt that looked like the bottom of the iron, and it even left the impression of the steam holes!
Not if I can help it! My mother and grandmother ironed everything. I had to iron sheets, baby diapers, even daddy's boxers. I hate it almost as much as a garden.
As of now, very little. When I find a job I will be back to ironing, I iron all my work clothes. I have been ironing since I was about 12 yrs old. My father was a drill sargent in the army and all his clothes had to be starched and ironed. I'm talking when my mother used to put starch in a coke bottle with some kind of spout on it, lol.
As I finish up my last (3rd) glass of Pinot Grigio for [b]National Drink Wine Day[b], no ironing for me...honestly, I'm terrible at it. I leave my clothes with more wrinkles than when I started!!
All my Quacker Factory clothes have to be ironed. Clothes that don't have to be ironed always have first wearing priority. I don't think I iron as much as my Dh. He likes to have an excuse to watch TV while being useful.
We seem to be getting lazier as technology comes up with more stuff that makes our lives easier. Let's take ironing.. I wonder what they used before the iron was invented, a large concrete roller to get the wrinkles out of clothes? That must have been one heck of a workout!

I got a shirt back from the cleaners like that. I still don't know whether I was more perplexed that it actually happend or that they used a regular house iron to press that shirt.
