Chronic insomnia for forty + years. I think working swing shift may have started it.

Me, too. Even though I've been retired from the swing shift for five years, I still can't get to sleep before 3 am. Shift work seriously messes up your circadian rhythms.

I never did shift work but I do often get up early, as witnessed by this 5.15am post!

Well, I suppose you've tried melatonin. How about Glycine? Sort of works.

Pet peeve: toothache. A $1000 toothache that I've had for over a month. They used their new curec? machine to make a crown right there and then. Yippee. You don't have to go back again--but I did. I've been back twice already.

So, my first chance to sit down in front of a pewter since I got back into town and you've deleted the car pics - thanks a truckload (lorryload).

Anyway, I did get a quick glance at them when I first got in and I hafta tell ya', I am one of the most fervent A/M fiends walking the face of this old spinning rock. As such I wholeheartedly approve of the excellent photos you posted.

As for a bad night's sleep; that's a true rarity for me.

Cloven, I have a suggestion. Put a sponge under the faucet that drips, and this will muffle the sound until your landlord gets around to fixing it.

Jezer, I hope your foot is better. I can relate to both the "bad night's sleep" and the "aching foot" peeves. I sprained my ankle and hurt my knee last week, and it's taking forever to get better. Last night I couldn't get to sleep until my usual time, about 3 a.m., part of the problem was that my foot was hurting. I had to get up at 8 a.m. for a dentist appointment today. That was no fun!

Melatonin helps me get to sleep when I have insomnia, though it doesn't work for everyone. Some people say it just gives them headaches. I don't know whether or not it is sold in the U.K.

Melatonin yes, Glycine no but it has to work better than the 6OZ of brandy I took before lying down.
