I'm looking to tune-up my bike and start riding again, which has been a long lost passion of mine.

I used to live in the Hudson Valley in NY and absolutely loved biking in the rolling hills and mountains and with the view of nature. I joined the military due to Sept 11 and I'm out after serving 6 years and have mainly only used my bike for transportation since then.

I'm looking to get into recreational and maybe some progressively harder biking. The most riding I've done down here in the past couple months is going to the store, going along Cady Way, and just simply exploring.

My current bike, 29er single speed, doesn't suit me too well, since it's geared too slow needs to be re-geared for more level terrain around here. My old bike, Schwinn Homegrown, is a wreck from neglect and abuse and would like to fix that one up - needs a new chain and cables.

I did a search on a bike shop, but since I don't have a phone I can't really find which would be best for me that's convenient for me to just ride to.

Bike Shop loc: Orlando, FL - Google Maps

My old bike is in such bad condition that it's barely ridable and torquing it makes the chain skip which means I need to very slowly accelerate at under 50 RPM until it reaches cruising speed. I would have to ride it to a bike shop to get fixed up and then run/walk back. I've gone as far as Wal-Mart to Winn Dixie on foot (when I had to return my U-Haul).
