How rapidly is the Puerto Rican influence changing Orlando? (Jacksonville: employment, schools)

Is Orlando becoming like Miami-Dade where white non-hispanics are starting to feel uncomfortable with the Latin influence and fleeing to outer suburbs? The classic "white flight" scenario experienced in many cities. It seems Hurricane Maria may be a demographic tipping point for the area.

Where would whites flee too in the current scenario? I see Hispanics throughout many parts of Orlando. But if you want to ask about specific areas, I get the sense that hunters creek, east Orlando and Kissimmee are more Hispanic heavy areas. Miami has more Cuban emigrants while Orlando seems to see more Puerto Rican ones

I don't know Seminole, Brevard, Volusia, Lake County? Seems the demographics are different there. Orange and Osceola appear to be the Hispanic core of the metro area.

There's been a tremendous influx into Seminole County as well especially in Altamonte Springs, Casselberry and Winter Springs. Volusia County is also already very heavily populated with Puerto Ricans throughout Deltona and Orange City primarily.

I would wager the northward "white migration" will repeat itself as seen in the 80s/90s when many from South Florida moved to Central Florida, but this time more toward Jacksonville which is booming like the rest of FL, minus the heavy influx of Hispanics.

The PR influence has been growing and consistent for decades. Hurricane Maria has brought a few more people but the area has been booming for a while. PR's mesh better into the mainland American culture better than Cubans and the rest of south FL. South FL has a large mix of people from everywhere, while we are majority PR. The white people that are moving out are looking for more land and newer/better schools but so are many PR.

That will change. Hispanics just like any other population will move towards cities that offer employment opportunities and lower cost housing. So wether they are originally from Cuba, PR or any other Hispanic country I think with time you will see large Hispanic populations in all Florida cities.

By the way many that have left South Florida are Hispanics looking for a lower cost of living.

I don't notice a difference, but most PRs moved to Kissimmee, so that might be why I don't notice it. However, I really don't care, I like PR food and a lot of my friends I've made since moving to Orlando are PR.

I am British and love the Puerto Ricans I find them friendly and not threatening unlike other races I have lived with.
