From SR-46 to I-4 Westbound...
Why this ridiculously long 2-mile ramp? Why the criss-crossing factor? Every morning I see cars about to get in some violent wrecks as they jump onto the ramp and try to get into their desired lanes... The 417 lane quickly splits away for no apparent reason, as it also extends for quite a way... Not to mention, why are both the I-4 entrance and 417 entrance using the same ramps?
It's basically an on-ramp to on-ramps. Stupid....
You'd think they would have learned from the past with poor design issues along I4... I guess not.

Why???????????
I think it provides the state speed trap possibilities as they have done with the 417 merge to/from I-4 on the south end near Disney with much lower speed limits than what the 417 or I-4 offers. The north end you speak of pretty much always has FHP cruisers sitting out trying to catch people going above 45 mph along that one stretch which as you might imagine isn't difficult. Furthermore the design has created a situation where local traffic wishing to get on I-4 east bound at SR46-A cannot exit at SR46 because the offramp precedes the onramp, forcing traffic to use Rinehart Rd instead. Pure genius....
