We are looking to buy a home(preferably a Single family...) in a city in Southern California with good elementary and middle school district with a Diverse community. We are Asians. Work is in Torrance. Our upper limit is 600K.

We looked into some areas in Torrance - the good areas seem to be very expensive and old homes too.
We like Irvine - But it is too far from Work.

I have been reading up here on city-data and Cypress seems to pop up very often.

Really appreciate some advice and insights on any cities that might fit our options.

You can check out the school districts by going to the Calif. Dept. of Education and looking up API scores. Sorry don't have the link handy.

Hi there. I am doing the same research re: schools and have identified a site that will give you ranking and comparisons:
California School Ratings

Personally I identified my preference and contacting them tomorrow. Ladera Elementary (Tustin Unified District). Irvine area really.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
