We are big on Omaha steaks from our local Omaha Steaks store. My hubby will be traveling to Omaha shortly. Are there any good local places for him to have a nice, juicy, melt-in-your mouth steak? I would love to surprise him with your suggestions. Thanks!

Piccolos, on South 20th Street.

You'd never go there unless you know about. Here's a site with some reviews.

For that grand old Omaha steakhouse experience, try Johnny's Cafe in South Omaha or Gorats Steakhouse, two of the few old-school steakhouses left.

Don't forget Farmer Brown's, Sullivan's, and Anthony's!

Is Farmer Brown's still open? I thought something else was in its place when we were back in town last month.

thanks for those; we'll have to try them. Someone we know suggested Runza fastfood, is it all that?

Runza has great fries, I can tell you that. Beyond that, I didn't care too much for them but I think that's because I'm not too into that style of food. Lots of other people love it though.

Another one worth mentioning is Old Country Buffet. Excellent food for a buffet, and my mom said they had the best peach cobbler she's ever had.

The original one in Waterloo is still open... the one in Papillion closed last year.
