We're Texans looking to retire in SE Oklahoma. We've found a piece of property around Bennington that is of interest but have a few questions about local contractors. I'm a big believer in Forums and the people that populate them. I would rather ask a few questions here first then start a process of estimates.

This is an 80 acre tract with underground electricity run about 1/3 mile into the property. It has county water at the road but home sites are from 1/3 to 2/3 into the property. I'm looking for what i should expect to pay for a lateral line septic system (soil looks to perc fine) and drilling a well. Slab and metal building costs in the area have been hard for me to find without actually having bids made.

If any of you have any experience in the matters I would sure appreciated the help.

Thanks and we're looking forward to reading the rest of the forums on Oklahoma.

Lets bump this back up on top and see if I can get a response. If anyone has had a well or a septic done in the Durant area then that would be of help to me.

Thanks

Well, I can tell ya it's not gonna be cheap Your in a good area though, and that area has some of the cheapest real estate in the region so you should offset your expenses on setup for what ya save on your purchase price. Not much help, but it's all I have for ya. My home was already built when we bought here.

Thanks Lawman... I spoke with a real friendly guy from Ft. Towson who's family has been drilling for 3 generations. 200 to 400 ft at $18 a foot plus $850 for the pump head for the well. Septic, well the suggestion was to grab a backhoe and, you know.
After we get the utilities all in place we'll start getting situated with the barns and storage. I got about 6 or 7 years before we'll actually live there so there's plenty of time. I'm really excited because I'm a city boy and can't wait to play on the tractor and run a Gator down the trails. Maybe even shoot a hog.
