Okay, all you people who have green tmatoes and are going "Ugh" at the thought of frying them. I've found a whole bunch of recipes for green tomato ketchup, green tomato relish, green tomato pie, and some others. Green tomatoes can also be used in place of or half and half with apples, like in a winter pie or coffee cake. And you can use them just like tomatillos in Mexican recipes.

Kari, that's great.. I've loved green fried ttomatoes since I was a kid. Some people in CA. never heard of them.
Shouldn't that go on the "Receipt Thread"?

Probably, but it's the gardeners who are complaining about the tomatoes.

Now i still have tons of green tomatoes.....Will they ever ripe? What about my peppers, they are still small not one a stuffing size. I am dissapointed in my garden and put lots and lots of work into it this year. Out 70 Tomatoes plants I managed to can enough whole tomatoes and make sausa but I need juice. So one would think I planted enough. Well anyway, the question is; is there still time for these tomatoes to ripe.
Debbie

A question for all you gardeners. My accidental pumpkin vine is now about 4 feet long, and has two blossoms on it. Anyone want to make a guess as to whether or not there will actually be at least one pumpkin for Halloween?

You better be good to it Charlie Brown, or the Great Pumpkin won't come to visit you.

I think he has been visiting. Now there are two blossoms open and 5 more buds. And a couple of nice little corn stalks. Sure would be nice if something I actually planted would grow!
