My husband & I are moving to the Fayetteville area and would like some suggestion of good areas to purchase a home.
i will be working @ the VA medical center on Ramsey St
Max commute time 45 mins.
We are looking for a small house 2br/1.5+ba, 1500 Sq Ft max. on about 1/4 or so acres. i don't want my neighbors home 10ft from mine anymore. but don't want to live a rural area with no neighbors.
Our kids are grown but I want a good school rating, (7,8,9) for resale value.
I prefer not to deal with HOA.
I'm looking for a lot with a small budget. $140k or less.
i did see some nice home west of strickland bridge road.
we plan to visit mid June. Your advice will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Maybe try Lillington, Eastover, North Fayetteville.

There are several recent threads on Fayetteville, some with info that could be pertinent. Do a search in the general NC forum, if you haven't already.

$140k is not a huge budget even for a small home. In town I'd suggest Haymount. There are lots of cute older bungalow type homes there. An older home will get you a bigger lot.

Outside of town maybe look toward Gray's Creek if that's not too far out for you. No idea on prices there.

Strickland Bridge Rd is out of my realm, but Gates Four is pretty nice, I think.

We have a house in the Beaver Dam Community (we're out in the country), but you can be at the VA in about 30 minutes....2 BR. It's in the Cape Fear School District, which is one of the better districts in the county. My daughter is a sophomore at Cape Fear now, and my oldest has already graduated. The house we have available would fit your needs and budget.
