As mentioned in his bio, his mom comes from Culpeper VA. A lot of the black people in that area in towns such as Le Roy, the Caledonia-Mumford area, Avon, Scottsville, etc. have roots in that area of VA that goes back to migration going back to the late 19th century. Hence, why Le Roy and Mumford both have churches that worship in the African American tradition that have been around for that long(Both named the Second Baptist Church).
