I am interested in renting a 2br in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. I became interested in this neighborhood because it's cheaper than Park Slope, yet still has some good elementary and middle schools (very important to us), and is quite close to Prospect park and Park Slope shops and restaurants. The only problem is that there seem to be very few apartments available for rent in Windsor Terrace.
How would I go about finding an apartment for rent in this area? Are there any good and reputable real estate agencies that specialize in the Windsor Terrace listings? Should I try to search directly (approach superintendents in the buildings, etc.)?
I was primarily using craigslist and streeteasy to locate the available rentals.
Its a slightly older thread but its a pretty small neighborhood so its understandable to have little listings available.
Def one of my favorite nabs in Brooklyn.

It also seems that a lot of the real apartment buildings in Windsor Terrace are co ops, which is probably another reason why there are so few rentals and probably one of the reasons it is such a nice neighborhood.
I looked at some apartments there( to buy). Very nice.
Don't know why anyone would view this neighborhood as "runner up" to Park Slope.I think it's preferable to Park Slope.
Park Slope is sort of a yuppie theme park neighborhood in the same way the Williamsburg is a hipster theme park neighborhood.Living in a theme park can get really annoying and they are not healthy environments to raise children in.
Also- are the public elem schools here pretty safe/caring? (Kid going into kindergarten)
I'm gonna look into this b/c I'm sort of turned off by pslope, even though its considered "family oriented".
Any info at all would be great actually.
Thanks.
I have kids in PS 154 and it is lovely -- it's small and feels very small-town, you see all these kids and families around the neighborhood all the time. It doesn't feel like you are in the city. Parents are involved and happy to be part of the school. Lots of after school clubs. And I've really liked the teachers.

Is that the area where Dog Day Afternoon was filmed? That was a nice area back in the 80's. It was a poor man's Italian Park Slope.
