We are looking at a place that is zoned for PS 154 in Windsor Terrace. Any feedback? Also, the 4 year old has an October birthday - in Georgia she misses the cut-off for Kindergarten next year. I would prefer to wait until Fall 2009 to send her - I have researched and found that she cannot go to Pre-K in NY and would have to go to kindergarten next year. Are there any good, reputable private programs (reasonably priced) where she could attend a pre-k/preschool half-day program?

windsor terrace is a very nice area. doesnt get a lot of hype like park slope, but its almost as expensive.
As for school, i think in nyc, you have up till dec 15 of that year to hit 5 years old to qualify for kindergarten. If you dont want to send her, and she is too old for pre-k, you will probably find that a REAL pre-k type program, charges about the same as a day care, which in nyc none are reasonably priced
its been a while since my youngest was that age, but if i remember correctly, for a full day program in the sheepshead bay area we were looking at over $100 per week, and i tend to think that windsor will be at least that much if not more. that was a good 8 years ago tho. Reasonably priced, of course is all relative, you may not even blink at spending 400-800 a month on a pre-k program.
My guess tho, is that you could probably get her into a pre-k program, if you just go to the school board and ask.
Good luck
