Farmington was friendly when I visited in September. Aztec reminded me of the Midwest. I liked both cities and did not experience racial bias from the Navajo. San Juan is like a hybrid NM/CO with a vested interest in Energy production and infrastructure. It’s an oasis in the high desert.

The challenge is finding positive outlets for my teenage son. My son doesn’t want to spend all his time with me and outdoor activities are not his choice either. If your boy loves horseback, fishing, mountain biking, and hiking, it’s a wonderful hub for those activities. You can even get a little lot outside of town with horse corrals for a reasonable price.

Among the people I talked to, the biggest complaint was the lack of activities for their youth.
