we are relocating from Charlotte, NC to the Princeton area and need some recommendations. I have two little kids (3 & 5) so schools are important. We want to be some place that is not a 20 minute drive from the grocery store! Any ideas as to new(er) or very nice subdivisions? House budget is about $1-$1.5MM which I know will get me shockingly little up there! Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks

that kind of money will get you more than you think, you need to take a recon trip to the area to scout out what you like, think princeton boro or township, w. windsor, lawrence twp, and the surrounding areas, you'll be surprised at how nice the area can be
With a budget like that you will be able to buy a really nice, new home in the Princetons (Boro or Township), West Windsor, Plainsboro, Montgomery and Hopewell. These towns have top quality schools and are all within striking distance of Princeton. Coming from NC, you might be taken aback by our property taxes. A 1-1.5MM home will run you anywhere from 15-30K per year depending on the town you pick.
I would recommend Hopewell/Pennington...excellent school district, very safe, very nice.
