I am looking for a quality used furniture store in NJ. We are moving to Morris County but are willing to travel. I am especially interested in bedroom furniture.

I've never seen such a store anywhere. Any antique store or thrift store has some. Quality varies day to day based on what is bought or donated.

There's also Craigslist - I've bought stuff there with success, but only in a small town; and I'm careful about which emails I answer.

You can try out "Unclaimed Freight" in Clifton on Route 46 West. It is all new furniture but really good bargains at times. I have never bought from there but a colleague at work was raving about his bedroom and dining set purchase.

Try looking on Craigslist. I've found nice used furniture there.

Look for moving sales in your local paper.

Lots of moving and garage sales locally, too. Check the local papers and the local food stores. Although you need to be very cautious with Craigslist, I've been very lucky there at times.

You may also want to look at consignment stores, they generally have some pretty decent deals and selections.

Also, see if any of the major furniture stores in your area have a clearance section. Ashley Furniture in Cherry Hill has a warehouse section that brings in pieces from all their other local stores by the truck load each week. Sometimes it is floor merchandise, other times its returns, sometimes it's scratch and dent, etc. The prices are INSANELY cheap. My wife and I bought a slate and oak coffee and end table set (3 pieces total) that retailed for over $1,000 for $75. One of the end tables had some minor damage at the bottom of one of the legs and the person who had ordered it refused the set. We touched it up with a furniture pen and you would NEVER know it was damaged.

They have a lot of tables, dining sets, bedroom sets and couches. They also sell off all of the art work and accent pieces they use in the store displays. You can buy art for $20 or less and accent pieces for as little as .50 cents. You just need to find out when the truck is delivering new stuff as it tends to go pretty quick.
