Is the Phillipsburg Inn in Phillipsburg, NJ an ok place to spend the night? I am just looking for something that is easy on and off I-78, and a place that is in a safe area. I have read mixed reviews on the travel sites, one will say it really nice and another will say it’s a total dump.

I'm pretty sure there's a Best Western or Quality in on Rt. 519 in Alpha. Alpha is closer to Rt. 78. Maybe google their websites? PBurg in may not actually be in "PBurg". If it's in Alpha..you'll be fine : )

For a better area and maybe a cleaner room, I would stay about 10min east in Clinton around exit 15. I think you will have better odds of finding a nice place, might be a few bucks more.

Yes, I guess it is in Alpha. From the satellite picture on Google maps, it is the first motel off the highway. It also appears to be in a suburban area around some strip malls and restaurants.

That's Alpha and it's not a bad area plus there's plenty of places to eat and shop if you get bored. Plus the Phillipsburg Mall is down the road a piece...safe as well.

I have stayed in the Hampton Inn in Clinton, and it is a nice area. But this time we have our small dog and they do not allow pets. I just checked with the Holiday Inn, and they also won't take pets.

100% correct.

I only suggested Clinton because I figured the hotels were newer.

My friend stayed there last year with her large dog, it was supposed to be crated while they slept but other than that she said it was all good.
