If you want a real beach, you have to drive south. All NJ beaches imo are not worth going into the water other than sitting out. The water is always dark, cold, and lifeless looking.
Once you go south you see actual fish, seaweed, jellyfish, marine life, and clear blue water.
I continue to be disappointed with east coast beaches. It's just what you get. If you want fishes and clear water you have to go south and I mean South Carolina, Florida, or the Caribbean.
a.c. is free but it's really scary as soon as you get off of the boardwalk. it's filled with ungrateful people who should be sent to volunteer amidst the hills of cap haitien, haiti or lagos, nigeria, where they would weep like little wimps. they would return to our nation with a smile of relief on their faces instead of sullen looks planted on their faces in a land where a poor man can drive a rich man's car and have the bank pay for anything we want.
after doin' the caribbean, mexico, and yes, florida, we'd never set foot on these beaches again in nj. icy water filled with oil and wall-to-wall people with outrageous prices that only the desperate or the foolish would ever pay.
You know it's not the entire beach front of those towns ,right? Every time it rains the spot between Sea Girt and Spring Lake is closed to to the body of water they call "wreck pond".

The funny thing is you pay to go to those place's when you have better beach's right at your door step.
