I've always been sensitive to posting personal information and potential spam on City-Data, but I feel this is urgent and needs your attention. Mr. Bird is a friend of mine.

Morris County and local police are conducting a major search operation for missing Millington Resident David Bird, who has been out of touch since 4pm Saturday after leaving for a walk, and everyone in the area is asked to search their property and surroundings for any sign of him.

Bird is described as a white male, 6 feet and 1 inches in height, approximately 200 pounds, partially balding with gray hair and a gray beard. He is 55 years old and is the recipient of a liver transplant. He was last seen wearing a distinct bright red jacket with two yellow zippers, police said.

Please take a moment to check the NJ.com and Long Hill Police pages and keep an eye out. Also please take the time to "like" the page on Facebook to add to your feed. There were reports of sightings in the area of King George Road in Basking Ridge and Warren, near the Dewey Meadow Village shopping center.

I have been following this case and I am sorry for his friends and family.

From what I was reading, although currently a very fit guy, he had a liver transplant and was recovering from the stomach flu.I hope they are doing a thorough job of combing the woods where he was last seen. I am truly sorry.
