Anyone (or maybe someone you know) who lives in this area? I need help for my research in school. I basically just need information about the common animals and plants in this area that may affect the community (e.g. squirrels, rats, etc)??

Any form of help or info will be much appreciated. Many thanks!

Since that is a Las Vegas zip code, this should be posted there.

But I'd say there are no common animals or plants that affect the community of Las Vegas. At least not anymore. Everything here has been transplanted from other states. We have never had tree squirrels, but we have had chipmunks and small ground squirrels. At one time you could still find a few cactus and yuccas growing, and we even had a few mesquite forests, but now everything is landscaped with plants that are not from here, or paved over.

Lately, we have had an invasion, brought in by landscaping, of roof rats.

It is a Mojave desert climate and has the fauna and flora of that high desert. It is also includes numerous species brought in. Palm trees and such are common though of varieties not native to the area. Mesquites and Joshua trees and cottonwoods near water were common. It is urban and varies from quite poor to rich...and the plants and such will follow the money.

Animals include copious rabbits, ground squirrels, quail, feral cats, coyotes, rats, mice etc. There are scorpions, both native and the somewhat more potent Arizona bark scorpion. The animals become less common in the dense areas but are still there and thrive in the well landscaped richer areas.
