I have heard lately that the area is getting a fair amount of bad press. Mainly, due to drugs and gangs? Is it all of LaVergne and LF areas?
I have seen a few houses that appeal to me, and they are in the LF development area.

Thanks for the help!

Run!!!!!!!! That is an AWFUL area to live in. The homes are so inexpensive because the place is a dump. Everything you heard is true!

Don't believe the hype. I'm not sure about Lake Farms ... do you mean Lake Forest Estates?

I've been living here for 2 years and I love it. We've had no crime at our house or any of our neighbors. Another couple we're friends with live in the neighborhood as well, and they love it.

Yes, the area did get a lot of bad press because of some gang activity. But, guess what? That same gang activity is happening EVERYWHERE in the United States, including Murfreesboro, Nashville, Antioch, Hendersonville, Hermitage, and any other city you can find. The local government has done a great job in the time I've been here to educate the citizens about gangs & gang activity, and they have also greatly increased the police presence, making the area much safer.

Do a little research and you'll find a thread around here where someone posted the crime stats. La Vergne still has one of the lower crime rates. You simply cannot believe the media.

If you're really interested in living here, or anywhere else that you don't know, it's always wise to contact the local police and ask them about it. Also, contact your insurance agent with a few zip codes that you're considering, and see what the rate difference is. The police and insurance companies are much more in tune with an area than people who simply sit at home and watch the news.

I live here, and I've loved it. I'm moving West because my allergies and I just don't like TN. You will be just fine here.

Yeah it is Lake Forest. I have heard both good and bad. Just trying to get a consensus.

In defense of my first post, just take a look at the resale values of homes in Lake Forest Estates when compared to homes in other subdivisions. They are pathetically lower. There is a reason for that.

Please provide a link where gang activity has been reported in Hendersonville.

Steve is correct. The resale value of homes in Lake Forest should tell you everything you need to know about that neighborhood. There are foreclosures EVERYWHERE in LFE. The last time I drove through there, it seemed like there was a For Sale sign in every other yard. Not a good sign.

Didn't Lake Forest Estates recently put a police station there? That should tell you something about the crime in that area, when a subdivision has its own police presence.

In LFE's defense, it is the biggest subdivision in all of TN (and still growing).

The subdivision is hit and miss. There are some good areas and not so great areas. If it wasn't so far from things I wouldn't mind living there. Much of it is zoned to a terrific elementary school. I'm not familiar with LMS. LHS...bleh.

Hey Mike,

Isn't there only one way of LFE? Just wondering because that area seems real congested and not enough wide roads are there.

Either my reading comprehension is off or you're missing a word after "way."

I think maybe you meant one way out of LFE. If so, I'm not certain. I've only taken Floyd Mayfield and Stones River Rd. in and out of it, but there may be others. Either way, it's still too far from an interstate or anything else for my liking.
