I have an "adopted" daughter in the half marathon. Hmmm . . . it would probably help if she stopped smoking a day or two before the race. "Go, Heather! Go, Heather! Uh, get up off the ground, Heather!"

I've only done the bowling at the Family Fun Center. The other stuff seems to attract the kids in droves though, because there's always a million of them running wild in the parking lot, begging to get run over. There's also a "fun center" at Drake's Creek Park with mini-golf, batting cages, and maybe go-karts.

I'll be in the half-marathon next Saturday so bring lots of women and cheer me on. I'm looking to finish about 15 minutes ahead of the Kenyans, so get to the finish line early and don't blink, or else you'll miss me.

Seriously though, I'm running, this will be my third year, and it's always a lot of fun. If you're going to be a spectator, just park yourself by a band that doesn't suck, indulge in some free Accelerade, and be sure to hold a big sign in support of me.

I hope that the Cumberland Plateau isn't the finish line, because it is a lot more than 13.1 miles from the starting line... more like 100 miles. It's more than halfway to Knoxville on I-40 East.

The finish line is at LP Field, where the Titans play. It's right beside the Cumberland River, which is where you may be confused.

And "Pimpy" is fine for the sign. Tell me which band you'll be near and I'll look for it.

Default Thank you!!

LOL I would have been standing in the wrong place!!! Thank you for the tip on the finish line. I am not sure where we will be... I have never experienced anything like this or downtown Nashville for that matter. I have an exam I am taking on Saturday and hoping it won't take too long. The whole trip is just exciting... but seriously I wish you the best of luck in the marathon.

Family Fun Center is pretty good, I am an old-time video fan (Pacman , Galaga, and such). They actually tried a PBA event one year; guess owner lost some money on it, didn't try again.

Owner has 4 other sites just like it, and is the original, long-time owner of the Nashville Sounds (AAA Baseball).
