Hey everyone. I moved to Nashville a couple years ago to pursue songwriting and playing music. I've spent most of my time since then getting settled and with the songwriter community (writers nights in town, etc).

I've recently put a band together and I want to play my original music, as opposed to 4 hour sets of cover songs Downtown on Broadway. I've also recently found that its tough for a new original band to get these kinds of gigs around town here due to the sheer volume of experienced bands/groups.

Does anyone know of some decent live music spots (restaurants, bars, festivals, etc) in Nashville or more likely within an hour or so of Nashville where a new artist/band can get a gig without already having a large following?

Feel free to check out my music and website at: mattwatsonmusic.com
(My album is currently up for free download!)

Thanks so much!

check out the local marinas around Hendersonville/La Vergne/Elm Hill areas. I've seen a couple bands at those places and was always a cool vibe.

Puckett's in Franklin, Leiper's Fork or Downtown

I guess you already know about places like Bluebird Cafe and the bar in the Holiday Inn on Broadway?
