Hi Everybody, My hubby & I are moving BACK to TN but to the surrounding Nashville area from FL. Hubby works at Publix Supermkt. here in FL. He will be transferring to the Nashville area. I am disabled and wheelchair bound. Is Murfreesboro a good place to rent a house for awhile; about a year; til we decide where to buy? What are the rents like for a house. A 2 BR, 1+ BR home , for instance? I also have 3 dogs and 2 cats. No kids. Can any of you email me and tell me? shotzie1155@aol.com We are coming to your area next month to look around. I haven't seen the change of seasons for 16 yrs. We used to live in the Knoxville area in '86. Morristown & Newport. We love the country life. Hubby is originally from TN. We want to come home and retire . Thanks in advance, folks! shotzie1155@aol.com

Hi, It's me, shotzie1155 again, with another question.....where are the better neighborhoods in or around M'boro? I'll cut to the chase...where are the white neighborhoods? Please don't hate me for asking.

I'm black, but will answer your question. There really are no white neighborhoods in Murfreesboro. It is very diverse, however, there are your low income housing areas as well as your upper class areas. Basically north Murfreesboro will provide you the wealthiest neighborhoods. Check out the Thompson Lane corridor which includes Breckenridge, Jamison, and many other well developed and mature neighborhoods that are predomiantly white. On the Dejarnette corridor, checkout the Northwoods neighborhood. Here you will also find very large houses (mcmansions), clean streets, underground utilities, etc. Throughout Murfreesboro, you can get used to quality housing, as most of the newer developments almost always require underground utilities, sidewalks, street lighting, pocket parks, and mostly brick. West Murfreesboro has too many subdivisions to name that are gated and may be what you are looking for.

Default Murfreesboro worth looking into

If you do decide locating to the 'Boro", you might want to stay east of I-24. The west side is experiencing OUT OF CONTROL growth, and way too many subdivisions around with homes too close together. There are some great subdivisions north of town off 231 called Liberty Station and Liberty Valley? They're still building in that area, but the homes are further apart and there is even a neighborhood pool.
