I seek out movies about persons who live on low wages (working poor) or live on the edge of poverty.

It keeps me modest, makes me appreciate what I have, and makes me realize that I could one day easily be in their shoes.

Anybody have any good ones to recommend?

I have a few...

Great doc about families working, but struggling to live on low wages, and the film-makers come back many years later to see how they are doing. Great film.

Very old movie with Jeff Daniels. Not the most realistic movie, but entertaining. Has a TV movie feel to it.

Another somewhat older doc which follows a number of people who work hard but have difficulty making a living.

I love your idea of letting movies about less fortunate people reminding you to be grateful. (Though, by the way, it would be nice if you typed the titles, so we wouldn't have to click on each link.)

What may be the best movie by far about poverty is The Grapes of Wrath. Besides home viewing, it's often shown in revival theaters or museums.

Not exactly movies about poverty, but poverty is a driving force behind the action of the protagonists

Never watched the film, but the book was excellent.

I'll add The Florida Project:

About four years ago PBS aired the mini series the "Victorian Slum House".

It lines up perfectly with what you're looking for: persons who live on low wages (working poor) or live on the edge of poverty.
