When Scarface is on AMC or Sundance TV, why is the audio so low pitched? I’ve seen this done with other movies, too.

I just like it when he says "You want a job, Ernie?"

grad_student200, did you notice Ernie always had a "sad" look on his face?

I just read on imdb that him and Al Pacino were friends, and had been in the movie "Cruising" 3 years prior to Scarface.

Ernie says ZERO swears in Scarface!

Then again, he doesn't really say MUCH, in Scarface.

The question is: Why watch Scarface on AMC, or any network that won't air it uncut (IFC will).

I have two guesses. One is that some mope set the audio level wrong in doing the programming (which is almost entirely preset/automated anyway). The other is that the audio was set to limit the loud portions (bang bang, you know) and that pushed the conversation level too low.
