I remember this cheap-looking sci-fi movie from my childhood. Bunch of space ships and stuff. Anybody hear of this one?

Even as a kid I thought it sounded and looked dreadful so I never went to see it. I know it is much loved by many people and considered a "classic" but I don't think I ever was or ever will be the targeted audience.

The FX looked better then the CGI they use today, It was way ahead of it's time IMO and a great story to boot. Want cheesy? Watch the 3 "prequels" they came out with. between Hayden Christiansen and Jar Jar Binks it was as fun as an infomercial.

You're kidding right? Well you'll be thrilled to know they're making several more Star Wars movies in the next few years.

Related: What movie was better, Godfather I or II? Also, what was the last decent season of the Simpsons? And can you explain Mulholland Drive to me? I don't get it.
