A working list of restaurant recommendations, going off the list I made in a previous thread of all the restaurants I've been to. Hoping this thread can make locals & tourists try these restaurants, add to the list and of course, promote Montreal's rich culinary culture. If the mods can make this thread a sticky, that would be fantastic!
Of course, I won't be able to name all off the top of my head, so feel free to add more.
To start this thread, recommended restaurants for Downtown Montreal (no order)
Food halls
1. Posted above, Le Central is fantastic, I'm there weekly. Lots of options, fantastic food.
2. TimeOut market, another food hall, fantastic food.
3. Cathcart, good food, but pricier than the others.
You'll have about 60 options to choose from with all food halls.

In the old port, I remember seeing this Polish Restaurant. I really wanted to try. Too bad I ran out of time. So many good restaurants there.
Yeah. That maybe Stash’s restaurant. I haven’t been back in twenty years, but it used to be very good. I went there in my early twenties forty plus years ago, and it was already a fixture in Old Montreal. The old address they were at burned down. Their desserts were also top tier.

How do people park when they go to the Old Port to eat? Or does everyone take pub trans, and walks?

Lol, yes. Those narrow streets are not always easy to negotiate. There is parking on De La Commune street, which is the one bordering the Old Port. Within the Old Port, there is also a massive parking structure in one of the hangars, and several others strewn about. A lot of Parking lots vanished when condos were built in the west end of Old Montreal past Mc Gill street.

The Desjardin Center, and the Holiday Inn in Chinatown also have parking lots. I just wondering if anything closer. I usually just stay in Chinatown and walk over. But I guess for tourists staying elsewhere, they not want to walk in the cold.

Yes, well the hangar in the Old Port is a big parking lot on two stories. Then, the Palais des Congrès (convention center) has an underground parking nearby as well. The palais and the International Quarter both have underground parking between Chinatown and Old Montreal. One has 400 spots, the other has 1200.
