Hello all,

So my girlfriend and I are considering going to Montreal for NYE. Even though we'll be coming from NYC, we just want to try something different.

Is there any special, fun, unique events that take place in MTL?

We're into a variety of things but my girlfriend is more low-key and is a not a party animal. Maybe a little dancing with a more chill crowd but she's not someone who's at all into getting wasted and then getting into petty fights. We're both also very into outdoor events, so if there's anything like that happening in MTL for NYE that would be great.

Anything that may be worth checking out or just anything period, that sounds interesting I would appreciate.

Merci!

You can go ice skate at the old port. Exterior rink with skate rentals with a party atmosphere on New Years. There is also a brand new observation wheel onsite and a zip line.

Nearby, you'll find the Notre-Dame Basilica, which to me is a must see (inside) unless you're European and used to these things. Also Chinatown and plenty of other restos are a short walk away.

It's also the end of the Montreal's 375th bday celebrations, so lots of things going on including fireworks all in the same area.

OMG! I am also from Queens and I'm going to Montreal with a date for NYE weekend. I was doing some research and I found a pretty neat place called La Sala Rossa. An EDM Techno band from Germany is performing there on the 31st and tickets were relatively cheap. I will be there!

It was stupid cold that week in Montreal. You guys chose the worst time to visit Montreal! However, I did manage to go out saturday and nye night. Saturday night, i went to Stereo Bar, it was free before midnight. NYE I went to a sort of an underground rave organized by Resident Advisor, two buildings down from Le Belmont on Mont-Royal and St-Laurent. It was so cold that I couldn't finish my cigarette, I abandoned it halfway, it was like a reflex. The hand didn't need the brain to make that decision. It just did.
