My mother was born in Macon, MS so I was told at a very early age. I have often thought about gaining more information on the town and that particular regent of the world. She, passed away in 1987, but every now and than the thought of my possibly visiting this town pops into my head, and just wondering what type of town it was seems to by a mystery.
If someone could tell me how to locate a possible birth certificate, that would be helpful, and a start. Of course my grandmother would have been from this area also...

If you haven't looked here, https://www.city-data.com/city/Macon-Mississippi.html then this is a good place to learn about the town. Birth certificate, possibly start at the county court house. Good luck.

I would encourage you to follow through. You will find that these town, whose population seems to never change, support generations of families who simply stay where they are.
You may even find someone who remembers your family.

The Chamber of Commerce is a good place to start. Usually, the people who work at teh Chamber of Commerce are long time residents. Tracking a long lost resident would pique their curiosity, and that's what you want.

BOL!

If she was born after November, 1912, then go here: Vital Records - Mississippi State Department of Health

If you know birth date and year, simply print out the form, fill out the info, and mail it with a check. There's also a private firm you can pay with a credit card online, but the cost is significantly more.

If before 1912 your best chance would be calling the Noxubee County Courthouse or Chamber of Commerce as already mentioned. Seriously... give them a call. Mention your family connection and you might be amazed at how friendly and helpful they are.

But yeah, definitely come visit. Macon is really small, though.
