Hello Everyone,

I'm looking at a home between the 156 and the 52 in St. Paul and wanted to get some advice and feedback regarding the area. The place is really close to Holman Field so I'm concerned about the airport noise. Also I know that Holman floods every once in a while; the place I'm looking at is on Curtice St...should I consider this place or look elsewhere?

Thanks.

I think in that area the noise from Holman Field would be the least of my concerns. Sorry.

Oh, that's not a good area to be looking? Any suggestions in South St. Paul or the city of West St. Paul?

South St. Paul is ok if you don't have to worry about schools. For the most part, North of Marie St. is the better part of SSP. West St. Paul south of Annapolis is ok. I would lean toward WSP before SSP.

SSP to me is special because of it's bluff line and the river. SSP never gets a fare shake, most that rip it have never been there.
Actually, we used to live there and I am very familiar with the schools and they in no way compare to the top high schools in the state, sorry. I also disagree with the safety factor. There has been a spike in crime there and there are plenty of places in SSP that are NOT safe.

Thanks for all the replies, the info is very helpful; I guess I'll have to take a trip there before moving to get a general feel of the area in terms of safety. Schools, I'm not so much worried about at this point because we don't have any children yet but it's always a good idea to keep options open.

Then the safe areas in SSP will be just fine for you. It is an affordable area with easy access to major highways. If you don't even have kids yet, I wouldn't worry too much about schools unless you don't ever want to move again.
