Hello, and thank you in advance for reading this. My family and I are likely moving to Mpls soon. I am wondering if there are any suburbs that have a walkable neighborhood with LOTS of children with a great school. Here's the kicker- we're looking for homes around $300k. I would like to be able to walk to the library, park, grocery store, restaurants, cafes, health club, convenience stores, etc. but also I don't want to live on a busy street since I have a 2 year old.

I know this might be a tough find, but we somehow got lucky and found these things where we live now. If any neighborhood like this exists in Maple Grove or Plymouth, I would be thrilled as my parents live in Plymouth. Still, I know this is a long shot. Since I have a little one, I am very concerned about the quality of school, safety of neighborhood, and amount of children around. Thank you so much in advance for helping me!

Wayzata is exactly what you are looking for. It borders Plymouth, quiet streets, high end homes, the best schools in the metro and all of those thing within a 10 minute walk.

Wayzata is going to be out of her price range.

How far out do you want to live? Where will you be working? Places like St. Michael, Delano, Chaska would work for you.

What suburb is not kid-friendly. I thought that was practically a reason to have suburbs.

I would say Eagan. It is technically a suburb of St. Paul, however it is very nice and you shouldn't have a problem with finding homes in your price range.
