Mackinac Island...though touristy and expensive, is a fantastic addition to Michigan's amazing beauty and places to see. If nothing else, it is a blast to ride bikes around the island.

Maybe it's not expensive enough. My family and I just spent a few days there, it had been 10-15 years since we were last there. Talk about a nosedive in the class of people we saw. And the service was very average, food was bland. Huge disappointment. We won't be going back.

There's a Starbucks and a shopping mall downtown now. Seems they are chucking everything that actually made the island unique. Now it's all about making a buck.

I was there last year and don't remember the Starbucks. Is it new this year? Other problem with Mackinac: it's either quite humid or it's cold. Mrs. us66 went up there with her mother for Mother's Day this year and it was snowing.
