What the hell is wrong with the drivers and it seems like they do not care about pedestrians walking either...People are cutting off each other on the road like never before. Some are bent on tailgating and flashing or beaming lights. Some scream and call you over for a fight at the nearest gas station.People here drive like they are at Cedar Points.I hope people in other states don`t suck so much really...

We left Waterford in 2001.....it was like you described and back then. Some are just in a hurry and way past being rude. They are dangerous.

If you don't like my driving, then vote for mass transit! I will be more than gladly to save $300-$500 in my pocket by taking the bus or elevated subway in SE Michigan to and from my destination if a good infrastructure existed.

Don't drive so freaking slow then! Here in Hawaii there are idiots who drive 50 on the freeway in the far left lane.

Move over slow pokes!!

BTW, I grew up in SE Michigan. Don't criticise drivers there, OR I WILL KILL YOU!!

Just kidding. I'm character acting.

It's not just SE Michigan. It's here too and is probably everywhere. I feel like the odd one out who drives near the speed limit and it seems almost everybody tailgates. I get a lot of lights flashing, and sometimes passing using the shoulder or left turn lane and sometimes horn blowing as I turn. Many times I've been passed when rolling up to a stop sign going 25 in a 25. People passing into oncoming traffic is getting to be an everyday thing.

A police officer almost mowed me over at a crosswalk once. So I guess you don't have to stop for pedestrians.

But I've never seen a fight at a gas station.

OP, just wondering, have you ever been to Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, or, God forbid, LA? Metro Detroit, much less the rest of SE Michigan, doesn't even remotely hold a candle to those places in terms of road rage and bad driving. You know how here in Michigan people tend to get impatient if you are in the left lane on the expressway and not doing 10 mph over the speed limit? Well, on the main highways between San Diego and Los Angeles, you had better not be in either of the lanes farthest to the left and doing under 90, or you will seriously have to fear for your life, one way or the other. And go drive in Center City Philadelphia if you want to see how people can really pull out in front of you with no regard to right of way whatsoever.

Get out of Michigan sometime and see what the real world is like. You may discover that it really isn't so bad here.

Move south, the drivers are much more forgiving (except for the NY/NJ/OH transplants). I'm in Charlotte after living in SE MI for 40+ years and it took me a while to learn to slow down.

People rarely honk their horns if you don't instantly step on the gas when the light is green. People slow down and let other cars in instead of stopping in front of the driveway they are trying to pull out from.

We still get the idiots that drive like a northerner, but there are a lot less of them thats for sure. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I had a harder time driving in downtown Philadelphia than I did in Manhattan.

As for getting horns honked at you, I say screw 'em. Just sit there. That's what I do when anyone does that...and then I blow him/her/it a kiss as he/she/it passes.

A little old lady flipped me the bird the other day in downtown Phoenix.

She must be from LA.
