We are relocating soon, and I wondered if many people commute from the York, Pennsylvania area to Baltimore, and if so how long of a commute is it during peak times?
The cost of living seems lower there than in MA and you get bigger bang for your buck in the housing market. Our other choice is Bel Air....but houses are more $$$
Thank you.

There are many people who commute from the York area, especially southern York County, to the Baltimore area. In fact, so many people make that commute that the York County transit agency, Rabbit Transit, created a commuter bus route between York and the Hunt Valley light rail station to accommodate those commuters.

While York County is beautiful and cheaper than the immediate Baltimore area, please think through the long term costs of deciding to buy there and commuting to Baltimore. York to downtown Baltimore is at least an hour and that's with no traffic. And traffic is only going to get worse as the years go on. Please consider the costs of gas, time, traffic frustrations vs. buying a house closer to your job.

It's a similar story with Bel Air. I-95 is often a mess in the morning. And the lane widening project will only do so much, as it's a short term solution.
