You haven't put your tomatoes in yet have you?? There are widespread frost and freeze warnings up for tonight even along the coast! Hard freeze in the north and patchy frost in the south. If you have delicate plants in be sure you get them under cover! No..... I'm not back, just here for a freindly visit! Carry on!

My soil temp, which was running pretty steady at 60 last week has dropped 10 degrees or so as of this morning, so the seeding I was planning for today mostly didn't happen. I covered the basil last night and will again tonight. Not worried about what I seeded, just the half a dozen starts from the nursery.

Everything else that is up is tolerant; 'maters, peppers, corn, beans and even some grains (for crafting) are waiting in the wings.

Our tomatoes are spindly little things which would probably freeze through in any heavy frost.(I need a greenhouse!) They're in the garage so I'll move them into the cellar for the night. We have a few flowers to cover up but the rest of the stuff is pretty frost resistant. Frost is one thing, they are calling for a hard freeze in some places tonight! Even fiddleheads will not survive a hard freeze!

Hey, I moved here to get AWAY from the heat! But I am getting impatient about planting a garden. The was another reason we moved here. There is such a thing as too much heat for plants. I've got flower seed in a few days ago and I put out a rosebush the same day. Everything else is in the greenhouse except the day lillies and the hostas that are at least six inches high. And all the dandalions that popped up AGAIN after the last rain. With any luck, it will freeze hard enough to kill the little yellow monsters!

Oh, those little, yet ubiquitous beasts cannot be down for long!

Unless you want to poison yourself with lawn chemicals - blech to that I say - just be prepared to mow the devils with a ridiculous amount of frequency until the slowly fade toward the end of summer.

41 degrees at 4:30 a.m. on Graham Lake. Slept with the window open all night. Perfect.
