Hi everyone, thanks for reading this post!

My husband and I are moving out west from NYC in late summer, and while we travel we're going to do some sightseeing. While our stuff will be moved by a moving company (so we won't be traveling in a big uhaul or anything like that), we will be traveling with my small dog. We want to spend a few days in some different national parks, Acadia among them. Can anyone recommend some dog kennels on the outskirts? My dog is quite old and sleeps most of the day, so we aren't looking for anything fancy. Also, we're concerned that we might have difficulty finding a kennel as we're coming from out-of-state. Does anyone have experience with this? Please let me know!

Since we will be going out of the way to start our trip in Maine, it is possible that we leave the dog with a friend and pick her up as we head west, but that would be slightly out of the way. Then again, if a kennel is quite pricey, it might be worth the money we save, even with the extra gas money spent. Thoughts?

Our 4-year old labradoodle and 9 year old tabby really love the folks at Bear Brook Kennel in Brewer. It's on the way to Ellsworth, Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. They have a website. They make our kids feel very welcome. They might let your old pup sleep under the counter at the front desk. We've seen other get this special treatment.
