Milbridge is a nice little town. The town part is not very big. It has some beautiful scenery. It is not all that far to Ellsworth. Ellsworth has shopping and good medical facilities.
We rented there one summer. Cute town. Pretty scenery. Not a lot of cultural things to do...tiny library...handy to drive northward to Lubec and Eastport and Campobello Island. We drove southward to dine out..there was a terrific Thai restaurant outside of Bar Harbor...
We found it surprising was how chilly it could be in the summer when socked in by clouds and fog. Our un-insulated summer cottage rental had a woodstove which we fired up in the mornings to take the chill off...that was in late June...
If you're a contemplative type or a writer seeking peace you'll like Milbridge. If you want a lot of activity, you might be a bit antsy...winters might be quite harsh I expect...
We tried to see the house on N Main when we were looking to buy a house in that area about a year and a half ago, but couldn't get in to see it. We did look at a few others that were tempting in online pictures but not so much when you got inside. Maine houses in rural areas often have issues, and it can be really hard to find one that's reasonably priced but doesn't need major work. Milbridge is a pretty place with a nice medium sized grocery store and a pleasant feeling around town. If you've never lived in a place where winter is really winter, you might want to consider renting for a year before you commit. People who have never experienced a Maine winter often brush off the difficulties that other people try to tell them about, but you often find these same people gone after a few years at most.

Good points. And it gets dark sooo early. Early November last year was like 3:45 pm and the sun was setting. Can't be a late sleeper there. Which is my problem... lol.
enjoy those long summer days, get up, enjoy the cool of the morning. Just make sure you go to bed by dark. Less than 8 hours of darkness in mid June. Days are definitely shorter in late July.....
We just got back from Milbridge a few days ago. Kayaked Pigeon Bay in the evening and saw two eagles. We were visited by deer in the morning.
My older daughter took the canoe, younger daughter and I took the kayaks.
Awesome time!
Nice! I what vicinity were you staying in Milbridge? Anywhere is perfect. And oh Vazquez take out? I looove their food.
