i'm thinking of moving to milbridge from new mexico but i'd like more information about the village. can someone who lives there or has lived there recently tell me about the area. i've already read the posts on the firing range and the waste plant but i'd like more recent information if possible. tia.
Millbridge is in a fairly rural part of the state. It's in Washington county which is a lower income area so jobs are tough. It has beautiful scenery and has a typical small rural New England feel. If you haven't been to a rural part of New England before it can be difficult to describe because in my experience it is a bit different then the rest of the countries rural areas.
I have family in Steuben and used to live in Eastport so am somewhat familiar with the area if you have specific questions.
I have several houses saved in my "Favorites" that are in Milbridge. I want to be on the water. Will be coming up from NJ to see them next month. Good luck!
there is a home for sale at 58 n. main that i really like. perhaps you are familiar with it?
Even though Milbridge is rural this place is on the main road (Route 1 or 1A i forget) in and out of town. It can get a little busy with traffic, some trucks. Not crazy though. Nice town that has a good grocery store. The recently had Milbridge Days (parade etc). Good coffee shop there and old theatre they will hopefully renovate and reopen. But yeah jobs are scarce. Though not a bad place to retire..

I was in Milbridge this past weekend and visited the library. The building appears to be half library and half town office. I have relatives in the area. Have you heard if you blink you'll miss it? Milbridge isn't quite that small, but almost. ... approximately 1300 people... Have you ever visited Milbridge in the winter? Will you need a job and if so, do you have any prospects? Washington County is very conservative if that matters to you one way or the other. Milbridge is truly a town in Downeast Maine. There's a nice little seasonal take out serving the usual seafood, burgers, and ice cream. Yes, there is a grocery store--Bayside Supermarket. I heard today the town is working on an edible landscape project. New Milbridge park to feature an "edible landscape" - The Ellsworth AmericanThe Ellsworth American
Maine has a short growing season compared to some other parts of the U.S.

thank you all for the info. if i move there i'll be retiring so i won't need a job but i do think i'd like to live somewhere a bit larger. no the house isn't purple & pink.D it's white with a pond on 9 acres. great place but maybe a bit much for a first time mainer from the southwest. i've not ruled it out but i'm having 2nd thoughts.
Would be nice to know. Also Milbridge has a small Hispanic population. The little takeout Mexican food place is truly amazing. Better than places in Texas I've been to.
