Been doing some research, and it seems te towns around jackman/moose river/ect in somerset, or northwest/northeast pisquacuis (ut) seem to look to be about as rural as one can go, even for a UT. However, citydata and census data lists their average income at about 30k per year per family. Looking online their seems to be a high lack of jobs, i am just trying to figure this out. Is everyone up there self employed or something?

I feel like i should state, high wages for the area, another example is NorthWest aroostook has about 22k per year, 28-30k for south arrostook, (n.e, closer to houlton ect so makes sense), square lake aroostook is similar.

For somerset county, nw somerset had 35k, for 49 people over 700 sq miles, sembenook lake is 32k, and the only one i can find for under 30k average is 26k and 23k in north east.

Pisquatis county had 40k in nw, ne had 30.

North oxford had 45k (im assuming this one is skewed based off of employees in new hampshire towns right across), south oxford was only 1-2k behind.

Penobscot county im skipping as alot of it is in commuting distance to major citys...

I was on the board of directors of the hospital in Lincoln. They wanted to expand the operating room suite and the ER. the state required that we do a demographic study. The hospital serves the area from Vanceboro in the east, south to Passadumkeag, north to Macwahoc and west to LaGrange. The highest per capita income in the region is in Lee.

Webster Plantation, Maine has a per capita income of $8,385.

Bancroft, Unity, Hersey, Passamaquoddy Pleasant Point Reservation, Prentiss, all have per capita incomes under $10k.

Per capita income in my town is $14,359.

Probally should have looked at Per Capita income as well, but still, Webster PlT (the lowest on the list), has a family income of 23k, and a household of 20k. This despite being lower than what i stated, is still much higher than what i would have imagined (15k a year per family). Im also noticing alot of the towns/plts/uts have 0% poverty, which i find hard to believe.

Some that do are northwest Aroostook, Northwest Somerset, and the Forks. Im currently doing a table thing to work this out, as it seems very odd unless everyone up their works for a logging company, and/or manages their forest for profit.

"Im also noticing alot of the towns/plts/uts have 0% poverty, which i find hard to believe."Zero people means zero poverty. Believe it.

I had an 80 year old neighbor who had $181 a month social security. He owned one acre of land. He grew his own vegetables and ate a whole lot of pickerel from the lake, year round. He had no car. I gave him deer meat and salmon. When he broke his glasses, I bought him a pair of $15 glasses at the grocery store. He washed his clothes by hand and hung them on a clothes line.

There are more people like that than you might realize.
