Hello,

We are venturing to the west coast and visiting LA for the first time since 2005. Our son, who is graduating HS, wanted to see the Yankees - Dodgers that weekend at the stadium as his gift. He's a huge Yankee fan, yeah, I know poor parenting lol. We are looking at staying in the Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Redondo Beach areas and taking it from there. Since it's been a while and we are staying just for the weekend, what are the must see's? Is Griffith Observatory worth a visit? Universal Studios ?(been to the Orlando one) Getty Center? Any daytrips up the PCH to say Santa Barbara or Solvang? Any good recommendations for authentic Mexican, Korean or Japanese?

BTW Go Dodgers!

Thanks in advance.

Definitely the Griffith Observatory and the Getty Center. Santa Barbara is beautiful; Solvang a little touristy. Your kids will enjoy the beaches since you're staying on the Westside. Have fun!

Thank you very much. Santa Barbara will probably be the day-trip up the PCH.

Universal, Getty and Santa Barbara will all eat up a day each. Griffith isn't that exciting and they require proof of vaccination last that I heard. Something funky going on with their parking to I believe.

Out of those 4 Getty would get my vote, but might not be exciting for the kids.

Solvang has a nice Christmas parade.

If your son is into cars go to Peterson Museum.
Fridays from 4pm-11pm Bob's big boy in Burbank has a cool car show (and it's free).

California Science Center is pretty cool and doesn't take all day to see.

Lots of cool places to hike if you like that

Griffith Observatory, Getty and drive up PCH are always worth it. Kids will probably enjoy the observatory more- watch the Tesla coil and planetairum show. Also great views of LA.

I like Magal BBQ for Korean, it's good but not crazy wait times like other Korean BBQ places. Also Gaju Market has a food court with a variety of Korean options.
