People want to live where they feel at home. If LA is nicer than say... Mexico City... then Mexicans (and other Latin Americans) will still prefer it to all American cities. Why move to another US city when they can stay in LA, amongst other Mexicans, not need to use English, and not need to assimilate? Felons don't have to worry about getting deported in LA. It's at a convenient location. If there is a warrant for your arrest in Mexico, just hop over the border to LA, and you're safe from prosecution. Then you can freely commit crimes in LA without them even deporting you! You have to understand that "bad" to an American is different to "bad" to an immigrant. If it was the same, immigrants wouldn't be filling LA - after all, their incomes are very low and the housing is extremely expensive.

That's like saying "Compton isn't so dangerous. Take a trip to Darfur and compare."

The pollution in LA is still by far the worst in the country. Way worse than New York City, which has far more people contained in a smaller area. It's only going to get worse and worse unless something drastic is done to increase public transit usage. All the pollution and traffic can't be good for the economy... middle and upper class residents will continue to leave.

With regards to the question of human caused climate change...

Scientific opinion on climate change - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
The world's leading climate scientists said global warming has begun, is very likely caused by man, and will be unstoppable for centuries, ... . The phrase very likely translates to a more than 90 percent certainty that global warming is caused by man's burning of fossil fuels. That was the strongest conclusion to date, making it nearly impossible to say natural forces are to blame.[3]

Carbon dioxide levels of the last 450,000 years:

No need to worry about the sea level rising above LA though. That's crazy talk. Inches, not yards.

Anyone can make charts.

"Global warming" is a farce. 'Climate change' is real, but it's natural, and nothing a human can do to change it one way or the other.

So how would L.A. be any different in this regard from Phoenix, San Diego, Tucson, San Antonio etc.
BTW, Mexico City's population has been declining for several years now.

No different than the other cities mentioned above, unless the entire southwest will be just as depressed.

Apparently Mexican immigrants have been leaving L.A. for some time now due to the costs:

Are Immigrants Leaving California?: Settlement Patterns of Immigrants in the Late 1990s

The only ethnic groups in L.A. that are seeing more people move in of that group than leave are the Asian groups.

And IMO if not for the immigrants the housing wouldn't be as expensive as the population wouldn't have grown as much. The property values would be lower and thus fewer Angelenos would be pushed out of the city due to high housing costs.

I agree with you Jack! How in the world can anyone know what the temperatures were 2000 years ago. Did they discover some ancient thermometers and charting equipment?? These charts are a joke!

There are ways of figuring it out, at least estimating temperatures, using proxy data, things like tree rings, coral growth, ice cores, and ocean and lake sediments.

Well, as stated, they can guess based on tree ring's and stuff, but these so many variables.

If you guys want the REAL low down on Global Warming, check out:

THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING SWINDLE on YouTube. It's long, over an hour (you'll have to watch it in parts) but you can clearly see what it's all about and why Al Gore still flies around in his plane if he's so concerned:

Have fun!

Just like evolution, or gravity, or physics. How could scientists know? I say science classes should be banned from schools. They're garbage, just all made up. I'm sure it's all a big worldwide conspiracy involving thousands of scientists, to create this global warming 'hoax'. Wow.

Of course some Mexican immigrants are leaving LA. What does that matter? When 1 person leaves, two more arrive.

Science aside from the global warming issue- Did you watch the global warming video I posted? Truth is stranger than fiction. Hahaha, but you learned it all in science class huh? Maybe they shouldn't have eliminated critical thinking classes from schools...
