You may want to check with your local school, as if they haven't already done some preliminary rests, they can refer you to someone who can give you child a thorough one.

Would not ask the school for a rec. I'd want someone completely independent. The school is going to do their own testing too so why give them a hand in YOUR testing.

I agree, depending upon what the reason for the testing is you might/will need backup to prove your point. If you are looking for special classes it might/would be foolish to depend upon their number.

Are you asking for a recommendation because you believe your child is gifted?
Is there another reason? If so, which school district?

BTW an independent test will cost several thousand $$$.
